Northampton Town League v Anglian Combination 3pm, on Sat 20th April, at Northampton Spencer FC.

On a very hot day, with a pitch that varied from soft on one side, to hard on the other, it was not easy to play flowing football. We had plenty of the play but failed to convert the few chances that were created. Although they had a player sent off for 2 yellow cards, in second half, the score remained at 0-0 at end of normal time. in extra time we created more chances, leading to Chris Holmes opening the scoring. We also hit the post with their keeper stranded and had a few near misses blocked. Unfortunately Andrew Condon scored a deflected goal to exqualise in the final minutes, to take the game to penalties. Our penalties were all converted successfully and they missed one, so we won 5-4 on penalties. Well done to all the players for their efforts on a difficult day. Also thanks to Terry Beane, Paul Grady & John Covell for all their efforts with the team. Thanks also to Roy Ainge and his colleagues from Northampton Town League for their hospitallity and warm welcome.
The next match is away to Birmingham AFA, date to be arranged.
