Open Trials Completed

Golden Girls ready for new FA Women's National League South campaign...

OPEN Trials, ahead of the new 2018/19 FA Women's National League South season, were wrapped up last night (June 26), as the Golden Girls look forward to the start of another new campaign.

Over 60 players attended trials over three evenings, along with current players who were present at the final session.

The Golden Girls will run an Under-23 and First team next season, and Assistant Manager Clinton Lancaster hopes to see more young players progress into the first team fold.

"We've managed to retain the young and exciting players that impressed at the tail-end of last season, as well as senior players with WSL experience," he said, speaking after the final session.

"The quality at the open trials has been very high, and it's now about working hard in preparation for the new season. We want to give young players an opportunity, and age won't be a factor if a player is good enough.

"Next season is all about building on the last few months, and ensuring we impress and do well in what is going to be a very competitive league. The senior players coming in are going to make a really positive impact, and it'll be exciting to see them surrounded by talented youngsters. We are all ready for the first game of the season, and looking forward to the start of pre-season."

New signings, and departures, will be confirmed ahead of the new campaign, with players reporting back for pre-season in July. The Golden Girls' pre-season schedule can be found by heading over to the fixtures tab on
