Meet Merrick Will

New midfielder talks about her move to Watford Ladies...

NEW signing Merrick Will made her debut for the Golden Girls in the 1-1 draw with table-topping Durham Women, having played against the Hornets in our previous match against London Bees.

The midfielder has been impressed so far with her new surroundings, and is looking forward to settling down and working under the guidance of the new management staff.

"For me, joining Watford Ladies posed a new challenge. It seemed like the right time to join the club," she said, speaking exclusively.

"I had heard a lot of good things about Keith and Alberto, and it felt right to make the move. As soon as I came over there was a really positive vibe from everyone at the club.

"The staff were really welcoming and the coaches are really passionate. The girls are really friendly too and the facilities are really good. We have analysts now too so we can assess our games. Everything is run really professionally which I think is great, and something we need to be able to progress."

The central player has played against the Golden Girls this season, but she believes that the experience helped her to settle in, and made the transition easy.

"It was very strange to come back and play to say the least," she explained.

"But it helped my nerves knowing what the pitch was like, and where the changing rooms were. Things like that were good for me in terms of settling in and the girls were really welcoming too.

"Having played against them aided me as I knew what kind of players I'd be playing with. A few of the fans said they were impressed with my performance after the game which I really appreciated.

"Overall it's hard not to be pleased with the result against Durham. The determination and hard work we put in for each other was outstanding, considering we don't know each other that well yet.

"Now everyone has signed though and is available, we can really focus on playing some quality football especially in preparation for the new upcoming winter season.

"I'm really excited to be a part of the club and look forward to us getting our first win in a few weeks!"
