Hornets Support Local Charity On Sunday
Golden Girls in action against London Bees...
THE Golden Girls continue to support great causes this season, and will be proud to represent NMSF on Sunday as they face London Bees in their final Continental Tyres Cup Group match.
National Maternity Support Foundation (NMSF) is also known as Jake's Charity. It was set up following the tragic stillbirth of Jake Canter due to the nearest hospital maternity unit being closed. NMSF's founding principles are to take a 'proactive educative approach' to maternity care.
NMSF campaigns to help keep maternity services available, accessible, safe and well resourced. It ensures that prospective parents have all the information needed to make informed decisions, supporting and undertaking further research into stillbirth and neonatal death, to ensure there is adequate bereavement care available whenever it is required.
NMSF funds Jake’s Scholarship through the Award for Excellence in Bereavement Care. This results in the award-winning midwife becoming a trained bereavement counselor and being designated as one of Jake’s Midwives. There are now 11 designated Jake’s Midwives across the UK. Our ambition is that every NHS Maternity Unit has a qualified Jake’s Midwife as an essential part of the team.
